My love for photography was initially sparked by my love for nature. I was in high school when I realized I was deeply drawn to the serene outdoors — capturing trees, flowers, plants in general, and clouds made my heart swell with glee. I was gifted my first DSLR camera in my first year of University and the love just deepened. I started off the Canon Rebel 400D, while at Vega School I upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark II, now I’m using my dream camera — the Canon 5D Mark IV. Knowing how expensive the craft of photography can be, I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to own great equipment and officially study the art above and beyond doing it as a hobby.
There’s something about capturing people’s faces that just makes my soul beyond happy. I get a deep sense of satisfaction when I look at the image and it’s almost as if the very essence of that person has been adequately portrayed. This is why I love shooting portraits both in colour and in black & white — sheer appreciation of the human being.
What’s an event without a photographer to document it all? Well, you know what they say, “if it’s not on the gram, then it didn’t happen.” So whether you are doing it for the gram or you simply want to document the event for the memories, I am your go-to! I shoot all events from kids’ birthdays to corporate events such conferences and/or workshops.
Street photography is one of my silent favourite forms of artwork. I enjoy everything about it from capturing the architecture, graffiti and people going about their business in whatever concrete jungle they reside. Every now and then I take to the streets for these moments — moments to appreciate the art hidden in the manmade chaos.
I might not have my own studio as yet, but where there’s a will there’s a way and I always find a way. Be it hiring out a studio in your desired area or turning your home, office or garage into a studio for the intended shoot, we can always make a plan to make it work. But why do I love studio, the illusion of control throughout the entire shooting process.
Since before my transition to a plant-based/ vegan diet, I have always had great love for food. More-so, I absolutely enjoy capturing food presented to me in the most appetising of ways possible. This led me to explore food styling seriously, and although I’m still working to refine the skill to a satisfactory level, it is something that definitely brings me joy even in its early stages.
