Couple weeks ago I received the Nivea Perfect & Radiant Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Water (wow, what a mouth full right?) from Rubybox. Before this, I was totally being that mom who removes her makeup with baby wipes but at least now I could remove my makeup like a grown up haha.
For those who know me personally, you know I don’t wear much makeup. I usually rock the natural makeup look, unless there is an occasion that requires the full face glam. I keep it minimal which comprises of primer, base, powder, eye liner, mascara, lip-stain/ lipstick, setting spray and highlighter — and yes, it’s usually applied in that order. Putting on the makeup can be quite fun but removing it is usually a drag especially after a long day or work and/or school.
Anyway, so I was super excited when I received the Nivea Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Water, but little did I know my skin would reject it. I used it the first evening after work and my skin felt fresh and clean, I was so delighted. The following morning, my skin had more plumpness to it that I was definitely loving, and after my morning facial routine, I was sure there was more glow as well, before applying any make up or highlighter — it was that natural glow from within and I was hyped! Sadly, this all turned out to be the calm before the storm. By the third day, I realised I had a breakout all the way up my right cheek. SHOCK and HORROR! I’m a 25 year-old and getting breakouts of this nature and magnitude had become a thing of the past. Worst still, there had only been one new addition/ change in my routine so I knew — my skin is not loving Nivea.
Sadly this isn’t the first time I have tried a Nivea facial product and had a completely negative experience. A few months back I tried their Even Tone Day Cream and also had a bad experience. On both days I applied it on my face I felt a burning sensation, I figured my skin was just sensitive at the time for whatever reason. Ironically when I tried the Toning Lotion, my skin improved SO MUCH! But unfortunately, everything else in the range does not agree with my skin at all. On the upside, my little sister’s skin has been improving drastically with the use of Nivea products — so at least none of the products I had went to waste. Her skin was quite pigmented and patchy but the more she uses the products the more even her skin tone becomes. And the more radiant and plump it gets. Lucky fish!
Just because my skin had a bad reaction to Nivea doesn’t mean your skin will too. I mean with my sister, her skin is flourishing thanks to Nivea. So I say still give it a try and see how your skin responds to it.
